Northeast, Pennsylvania is an endless inspiration for her landscapes. Agnes paints "en plein air" and frequently comes upon a site that stops her in her tracks. It might be the play of light and shadows on the ground; the cloud filled skies; or an old barn that moves her, but she needs to transfer those feelings on canvas. Hopefully her viewers will experience those same feelings. Agnes is an award-winning artist who has been painting for over 35 years. In the early years between raising a family and working as a registered nurse, time for painting was limited. However, the easel stayed up and at every opportunity she picked up her brushes.
During the early 80's, she received regular instruction and guidance from a professional artist; pursued formal studies at Snug Harbor Cultural Center on Staten Island. She also attended numerous art workshops and earned college credits in Art History, Drawing and Printing. She has participated successfully in numerous group shows, some juried, in NY and PA, twice winning best in oil as well as honorable mentions, resulting in significant commissions and sales. She has had two solo shows since moving to PA in 2005.
Her style continues to change and mature even at this stage in her career. Agnes describes her style as impressionistic, and seeks to accomplish looser brushwork and to be less literal when interpreting her subjects.
